AI Credits
How Atmos AI credits work — your monthly included allowance, buying credit packs, and auto-refill.
Atmos AI features — the in-product chat and the AI summaries posted on your pull requests and workflow runs — are metered in credits. One credit represents $0.01 of AI usage. Credits govern how much AI you can use; the model tiers available to you (Economy, Standard, Premium, Reasoning) are set by your plan, not by your credit balance.
You manage everything described here from Settings → Billing → AI Credits (
/billing#ai-credits).Every plan includes a monthly credit allowance. It refreshes at the start of each calendar month (UTC) and does not roll over — unused included credits don't accumulate, and the next month always starts at your plan's full allowance. The included allowance is always spent first, so a light month costs you nothing beyond your subscription.
When you need more than your monthly allowance, buy a prepaid credit pack. Pick a pack on the AI Credits card and complete checkout through Stripe; the credits land in your balance as soon as payment is confirmed.

Purchased credits are used only after your monthly included allowance is exhausted, and they persist — they stay in your balance across months until you spend them.
To avoid running out mid-month, enable auto-refill:
- Threshold — when your available balance drops below this many credits, Atmos Pro buys your selected pack automatically.
- Pack — which pack to buy on each refill.
- Monthly cap — the most auto-refill is allowed to spend per calendar month, so it can never run away.
Auto-refill is triggered by usage as your balance falls past the threshold — it is not a scheduled charge. It uses the card saved during your first checkout.
The AI Credits card shows your balance split three ways — Available, Included left, and Purchased left — plus how many credits you've used this month. Below that you'll find usage by day, a breakdown by feature and model tier, and a recent ledger. Each ledger entry links back to the chat session, PR comment, or workflow run that incurred the charge, so you can always see where credits went.
If your available balance reaches zero, Atmos AI generations are declined with an out-of-credits message until your included allowance resets at the start of the next month or you top up with a pack (or auto-refill does it for you). Your infrastructure workflows are unaffected — only the AI features pause.
